In reply to Eric. I suggest that the best, and most direct way for you to facilitate your recommendation of “giving land back” is this: Find a deserving Indian family and sign over the deeds to any real estate that you own … your home, vacation home, rental property, etc. After you’ve done this, then I’d be willing to engage in a discussion with you about giving back my public lands to Indians.

As Indians strive to retain their culture, they must be careful to not descend into hatred. Unfortunately, I’m seeing too many examples of this. The Iron Age met the Stone Age, and we are not going back to “the old days”. We are not going to give land back, and I refuse to wallow in guilt for the changes that have occurred over the past centuries. Today, Indians have the same constitutional rights as all Americans. We must move forward as one people – Americans first and foremost – and reject identity politics and the hatred that it promotes. All one people!

As for telling your side of the story, I humbly suggest this link below may be a place to aid in that effort. Wikipedia’s integrity has come a long ways since its inception. There is, however, always room for improvement. What I’m referencing is Wikipedia once posted numerous articles implying former German solders during WWII were only “following orders” and were not complicit in the intent to exterminate Jews. A Wikipedia contributor doggedly pursued discovering the facts and after exposing the fallacy, Wikipedia deleted almost all posts suggesting or advocating the non-complicity of the subjects in question.

The Wikipedia contributor endured diatribes to almost no end, yet prevailed. Solid research with substantiated and legitimate documentation never go out of style, maybe just not in our lifetime.
