This makes no sense to grind up a riparian area in the never-ending quest for money. Great places are great because of the landscapes and escape possibilities not because some developer thinks that endless luxury condos are a benefit to society. They are not and never will be. All this development will do is ruin Kane Creek so that a few people with bucks get a part year view of the canyon. Meanwhile, the community can go hang. The county commissioners should be deeply ashamed of themselves, foolishly allowing these developers to exploit a loophole that they themselves created. Moab residents deserve better than this.

What insurance company is backing this foolishness? My insurance rates went up 30% last year and when I asked why they said their costs have gone up across the board. They underwrite stupid projects and then pass their losses on to us.

This is just so dumb. I find it amazing that it continues to be legal to build in the flood plain of ANY river anywhere. Floodplains should simply be off-limits to development. It’s that simple. I don’t understand why developers continue to pick fights with mother nature. Water always wins. This development should not be allowed to happen. Further, Many western town governments seem obsessed with the idea of that inviting more rich people in will somehow boost their economy, but building housing for locals won’t? Come on. Protect the floodplain and build affordable high density housing within the town. We got to get smart about stuff.
